Broadstairs Airport Transfers · Express Travel Kent

Pre-booked airport transfers from Broadstairs, from Viking Bay to the North Foreland

Broadstairs Airport Transfers is how Express Travel Kent gets people from Broadstairs, St Peter's, Kingsgate, Dumpton, Northwood, Reading Street and Westwood to their flights. Every airport transfer is pre-booked, to Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton or London City, or another airport on request, and the booking system quotes one fixed fare for the car before you say yes.

Broadstairs is a town of seven bays and cliff-top roads. The old town drops through the York Gate to the harbour at Viking Bay, St Peter's sits inland around its parish church, and the cliff-top roads of Kingsgate run out to the lighthouse on the North Foreland. This page sets out where the car can meet you in each part of CT10, the typical drive to every airport and the questions people ask before they book.

Beyond the airport, we drive business travellers to London, pupils and students when term begins and ends, guests to weddings and celebrations in executive cars, and anyone heading for a cruise terminal or a city at the other end of the country.

Airport Transfer Service

Typical airport transfer times from Broadstairs

Express Travel Kent publishes these as typical drives from a Broadstairs address to the terminal. They are a guide, not a promise: a closure on the M2 or a Friday on the M25 can stretch them, so leave a margin before check-in. Type your exact address into the booking system and the fixed fare comes up at once.

  • A fixed fare for the car, shown before you book

  • Flight tracking and meet and greet on every airport collection

  • Same fare for early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays

  • Up to 6 passengers in an MPV; child seats on request

Areas We Cover

Pickup areas across CT10

Airport and long-distance journeys can start from any address in the CT10 postcode. Each part of town has its own quirks, so mention anything the driver should know when you book.

Old town and Viking Bay

Harbour Street runs down to the harbour through the York Gate, an arch dating from about 1540, and the streets above the main beach fill up on summer days. For flats and holiday lets here we fix a meeting point with you in advance.

St Peter's

The older inland village, gathered around its parish church, where the story of the town began. The A256, the road that takes the car out towards the A299 and the motorways, starts on its edge.

Kingsgate and the North Foreland

Cliff-top roads named after Charles II, who landed here in 1683, running past Kingsgate Castle towards the lighthouse. Golfers leaving the North Foreland club can ask for an estate car with room for the bags.

Reading Street

A hamlet first settled by Flemish refugees in the 1600s and still known for its Flemish-style gables. Give us the house name as well as the number if the lane has both.

Dumpton and Northwood

Dumpton takes its name from Dudeman, a thirteenth-century farmer, and runs down to Dumpton Gap, the last of the seven bays heading south. Northwood addresses are booked in exactly the same way.

Westwood and Westwood Cross

The shopping centre opened in June 2005 on the site of the old Haine Hospital, beside the A256 on Haine Road. Homes in Westwood sit close to that road, which leads on to the A299 Thanet Way.

Pickup Points

Meeting points when home is not the easiest place

Most people are collected from their own front door. If your street is hard to stop in, or you are arriving by train, one of these places may suit you better; tell us which when you book.

01

Broadstairs station

On Lloyd Road (CT10 1HZ), with one drop-off and pick-up point and a car park of 39 spaces. There are no lifts, and National Rail lists some step-free access to both platforms. Give us your train if you are coming in from London.

02

Westwood Cross

The shopping centre's large car park, on the A256, is an easy place to meet if you have been dropped off in town or are staying nearby. We agree which side of the car park when you book.

03

Albion Street and Harbour car parks

The two council car parks closest to Viking Bay: Albion Street has 81 spaces and the harbour parking 69. Handy if you are staying in the old town and would rather walk your bags a short way than wait on a narrow street.

04

Joss Bay car park

A council car park at the surfing beach on the North Foreland side of town, useful if you are staying in a cottage or holiday let near the northern bays.

Journey Times

Which way the car goes, and how long it usually takes

From Broadstairs the car takes the A256 past Westwood Cross to the A299 Thanet Way, which merges into the M2 at Brenley Corner near Faversham. After that the route depends on the airport.

Door to terminal, by car
Typical timeRoute after the M2
Gatwick1h 40m – 2hM25, then the M23
Heathrow2h – 2h 30mM25 west
Stansted1h 55m – 2h 20mDartford Crossing, then the M11
Luton2h 5m – 2h 35mOver the Dartford Crossing
London City1h 35m – 1h 55mA2 and the Blackwall Tunnel

Typical times published by Express Travel Kent for a Broadstairs pickup. Expect a busier Thanet Way and M25 at the start of the school holidays, on bank holidays and at weekends in summer; the M2 and M25 also often lose lanes overnight for roadworks.

Local Knowledge

Folk Week, the Dickens Festival and other busy days

Broadstairs Folk Week takes over the town in August. The 2025 festival, its sixtieth, ran from 7 to 15 August with concerts, dance and events in venues across town. The Dickens Festival comes round each June, celebrating the writer who spent his summers here. If your flight falls in either week, book early and we will agree a meeting point away from the busiest streets.

Road traffic follows the calendar too. The Thanet Way and the M25 carry more cars at the start of the school holidays, so on those days we suggest an earlier pickup when you book.

  • Folk Week: usually the second week of August.
  • Dickens Festival: every June.
  • On the M25, a Friday afternoon or the first day of a school holiday can cost an extra 30–45 minutes.
  • Bank holiday weekends: allow extra time on the Thanet Way.

Beyond the Airport

More than the airport: business, school, luxury and long-distance travel

This site is mostly about flights, but four other kinds of journey from Broadstairs are booked and priced the same way.

01

Long-distance journeys

London, other UK cities and family visits at the far end of the country. Every long run west starts the same way, on the Thanet Way to the M2 at Brenley Corner, and the fare is fixed for the car before you set off.

02

Cruise and ferry ports

Dover's two cruise terminals, CT1 and CT2, are on the Western Docks, and the A256, which begins in St Peter's, is the road south towards them. For longer sailings we drive to the five cruise terminals at Southampton.

03

Business transfers

Executive saloons to offices and meetings in London, to exhibition venues such as ExCeL London and to London City Airport. High-speed trains leave Broadstairs station for St Pancras, but the car takes you and your papers to the building you need.

04

School transfers

Pupils and students travelling between a home in St Peter's, Kingsgate or Westwood and their school, college, university or the airport, when term opens or closes and for exchange trips. Tell us who is travelling and who will meet them.

05

Luxury and exclusive transport

Executive cars for weddings and celebrations, including venues such as Pierremont Hall, and as-directed hire by the hour or by the day, with the car and driver at your disposal.

Local Knowledge

Broadstairs station or a car to the terminal?

Broadstairs station has had high-speed trains to London St Pancras since December 2009. Off-peak there are two an hour by different routes, plus an hourly train to Victoria. For a day in central London that works well.

None of the five airports is on these lines, though. Gatwick and Heathrow mean a change in London with your cases, and an early flight can mean leaving home before trains are running. A car leaves from your address and goes straight to the terminal, with the luggage in the boot the whole way. The fare is for the car, not per passenger, which is where families and groups notice the difference.

Common Questions

Questions people in Broadstairs ask before booking

Usually, yes, but the old town is tight. Harbour Street passes under the York Gate, and the streets above the main beach are busy in summer. When you book we agree a meeting point that suits the street and your luggage, which can be the Albion Street or Harbour car park if that is easier.

No, but book as early as you can. Folk Week usually runs in the second week of August and brings crowds to the town centre, so we fix the pickup spot with you in advance and suggest leaving a little extra time.

Yes. Every CT10 address is covered, including the roads above Botany Bay, Kingsgate Bay, Joss Bay and Stone Bay, as well as St Peter's, Dumpton, Northwood, Reading Street and Westwood. The booking system prices the exact address before you confirm.

Yes. The station on Lloyd Road has a drop-off and pick-up point and a small car park, and Westwood Cross has a large one. Tell us which you prefer and, for the station, the train you will be on.

Very little. Waiting past the free allowance, a stop you add that was not booked, a major change of route requested during the trip, and any parking fees or tolls met along the way. Heading to Stansted or Luton, that means the Dartford Crossing, charged from 6am to 10pm daily. Traffic, a diversion or a 4am start leave the fare alone.

We follow the flight and set the collection by the real landing time. Your driver stands in arrivals holding a name board, then takes the cases. Heathrow does not allow passengers to be picked up on its terminal forecourts, so the car waits in the terminal car park or, at Terminal 4, the pick-up area outside. After an international flight 45 minutes of waiting are free; after a domestic one, 30.
