A Broadstairs to Heathrow airport transfer takes you right across the south-east, from the Thanet coast to the western edge of London. The typical drive, as Express Travel Kent publishes it, is 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes door to terminal, and the fare for the car is settled when you book rather than run up on a meter.
Heathrow is the airport where knowing your terminal really counts, and where the arrangements for meeting you on the way home differ from the other London airports. Both are covered below, along with the route, a way to time an early departure and the cars that suit a long trip.
How the Broadstairs to Heathrow airport transfer runs
The first hour is the same as for any London airport: the A256 out past Westwood Cross, the A299 Thanet Way along the coast and the M2 from Brenley Corner. Then the car joins the M25 and follows it west round London to the Heathrow junctions.
The M25 is where the variation comes from. A clear run puts you near the bottom of the two to two-and-a-half-hour range; an incident or heavy traffic can push past the top. Neither touches your fare, but both affect your check-in, which is why we suggest a margin.
Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5
Heathrow has four terminals, numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5, and each has its own drop-off area reached by its own road: Terminal 2's from Constellation Way, for instance, and Terminal 4's from Stratford Road. A car heading for the wrong one loses valuable minutes, so check your booking and give us the terminal together with the flight number.
If your booking does not show a terminal, the airline's website or app will. Heathrow also charges vehicles each time they enter a terminal drop-off zone; when you book, ask us how airport charges apply to your journey.
Timing a long-haul departure from CT10
Your airline sets the bag-drop deadline, and for a long-haul flight it is worth reading it rather than guessing. Suppose bag drop closes at 07:00. Count back the top of the typical range, 2 hours 30 minutes, and then 30 minutes more for the M25: the car should collect you in Broadstairs at about 04:00.
That may feel early, but it buys calm at the other end. A few things are worth knowing before you settle on a time:
- Friday afternoons and the first days of the school holidays can add 30 to 45 minutes on the M25 alone.
- Overnight roadworks on the M2 and M25 are frequent, so even a 4am run can meet a lane closure.
- Summer weekends and bank holidays put more cars on the Thanet Way.
- Give us the flight number so the driver knows the terminal before setting off.
Coming home: why your driver meets you on foot
Heathrow does not allow passengers to be picked up from its terminal forecourts. Collections are made from the terminal car parks instead: Terminal Parking at Terminals 2, 3 and 5, a two-minute walk from the doors at Terminal 2, and at Terminal 4 the Priority Pick-Up Area right outside the building.
That is why your driver comes inside to find you. We follow the flight and time the collection to the real landing; the driver waits in arrivals with a name board, takes the trolley and walks with you to the car. Free waiting is 45 minutes from landing after an international flight and 30 after a domestic one, and delays outside your control cost nothing extra.
Room for long-haul luggage
A month visiting family or two weeks in the sun means more cases than a weekend break, and they all have to fit.
- Two people with two big cases: a saloon is enough.
- Up to four people with three or four big cases: book the estate.
- A more formal trip for up to four, with two or three big cases: the executive car.
- Up to six people, or four or more big cases: the people carrier.
- Children travelling: child seats are available on request.
Pickups from St Peter's to Kingsgate
Every part of CT10 is covered: the old town above Viking Bay, St Peter's, Reading Street, Northwood, Dumpton, Westwood and the cliff-top roads of Kingsgate and the North Foreland. The online booking system prices the exact address, so give it in full, flat number and house name included.
For a long-haul trip a pickup at home is usually best, with the cases loaded straight from the hall. If your street is awkward, near the York Gate for example, we can agree somewhere close by, such as the Albion Street car park.
Booking a Heathrow airport taxi from Broadstairs
Choose Heathrow and your terminal, your address, the date and time and the car, and the online booking system shows the fixed fare there and then. Payment online can be by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna or Revolut, and the code ExpressTravelKent reduces the fare by 10% in the online booking system. Phone 01843 247247, WhatsApp or email work too, at any hour.
If the trip falls through, cancelling more than a day before pickup costs nothing. Inside 24 hours a charge of up to half the fare may apply, and inside six hours, or once the car has set off, the whole fare.

The one on your airline booking: 2, 3, 4 or 5. Each has its own approach road, so the driver needs to know before setting off.
In the arrivals hall, where the driver waits with a name board. Because Heathrow does not allow pickups on the forecourt, you then walk together to the car in the terminal car park, or to the pick-up area outside Terminal 4.
No. Traffic, roadworks and diversions do not change the fixed fare.
