Broadstairs has venues with a past. Pierremont Hall, built in 1785, where the young Princess Victoria spent summer holidays, is now used for events including weddings. An executive car can bring family members from St Peter's, carry guests between the ceremony and the reception, or collect the couple at the end of the evening.

Some dates fill quickly. June brings the Dickens Festival and August the Folk Week, when the town centre is crowded; book wedding and celebration cars for those months well ahead, and we will agree pickup points that avoid the busiest streets.

Cruise terminals: Southampton and Dover

Southampton has five cruise terminals: the QEII and Ocean terminals in the Eastern Docks, and Mayflower, Horizon and City in the Western Docks. Your cruise documents say which one your ship uses; give it to us when you book so the driver goes straight to the right terminal.

For sailings from Dover, the port has two cruise terminals, CT1 and CT2, on the Western Docks. From Broadstairs the A256, which begins at St Peter's, is the road south towards Dover.

Cruise luggage tends to be generous, so think about the car: an estate takes three or four large cases with up to four people, and a people carrier four or more cases with up to six.

Long-distance journeys from Broadstairs across the UK

Long-distance journeys run to London and to any other UK city: a family visit in the Midlands, a funeral in the north, a student's move to university. Every one leaves the same way, along the A299 Thanet Way to the M2 at Brenley Corner near Faversham, and the fare is fixed for the car before you set off, so nothing is ticking up on the motorway.

Traffic, roadworks and diversions do not change that fare. What can be added: stops you add along the way, waiting beyond the free time, a big change of route asked for during the trip, and parking fees or tolls such as the Dartford Crossing if the route uses it.
